A Patriotic Engagement Session at the Johnstown Inclined Plane
We have photographed people at the Johnstown Inclined plane before and everytime we were able to capture beautiful and unique photos and our session with Mike & Renee was no exception. The weather was beautiful for our engagement photography session with Mike and Renee. We had to reschedule their engagement session the week before due to rainy weather so we were blessed to be able to have great conditions in which to get some great couples photos. Speaking of being blessed, Mike and Renee are a kind, respectful, and truly fun couple to be around. I know we say this a lot but we really are blessed to have great couples to work with for engagements and weddings time and time again and Mike and Renee kept the ball rolling with their kind and humorous personalities! Let's take some time to learn a little more about Mike and Renee in their own words.
Mike and I knew each other long before we started dating; we went to school together our entire lives, and were always good friends but we didn't start dating until I was a junior in college. In October 2008, he called me and
told me he would be getting deployed in January. Immediately, my mind started racing; I had fallen in love with him and I didn't even know it until that phone call. Fast forward to January - New Years Eve 08/09 and we're at a NYE party at a friends house and I was so worried that I was going to make the biggest mistake of my life, because what if he doesn't feel the same? He was sitting beside me on the couch and in that moment, I took a leap of faith, and I looked at him. I said, "I know this timing really sucks... And if you don't feel the same, it's ok. I just can't let you leave without letting you know that I love you. I'm in love with you." He replied, "I don't know what took you so long. I love you too." I wasn't exaggerating when I said the timing sucked..Fast forward another 4 days (I believe), and I'm with him, and his mom, and we're on our way to drop him off at the Armory in Johnstown to say goodbye for 9 months. He was deploying to Iraq and I was so full of mixed feelings. I was so ecstatic that he loved me too but I was so absolutely terrified that I would never see him again, that he would get hurt or that he would find someone else over there. Thankfully, none of those things happened. We kept in contact
through, AIM (remember that?), and skype for video chatting, I also sent him a big package, once a month, and he sent a few sweet gifts back to me. He came home 9/15/09 and it's been history in the making ever since.
Renee and Mike submitted this photo to us. A photo of the two of them when he first came home on 9/15/09
